How can Snoop Dog motivate our students?

Motivation is a funny thing.  There are as many ways to motivate someone as there are people who need to be motivated. It goes without saying, as coaches we have to figure out what motivates our students. Many of them will be motivated by the Dave Dollars but how do they get the Dave Dollars?  Well, as this is my second go around with students, I have vowed to know specifically what the students must do to be eligible. Luckily, there are as many ways to get Dave Dollars as there are students who want them. But they must be motivated to do the various ways. Like Snoop Dog says, they have to “Be on it like you want it.”

My goal this year is to get more students to be motivated to do community service. I figure not only will this be good for them if their goal is getting Dave Dollars, but it will be good for the community at large.  The student can get experience “working”, meet people who may be able to influence them further and maybe have some fun.  But how do I help them find the type of community service they will enjoy and be willing to take time away from their usual pursuits. I am starting by finding out what their likes and dislikes are, their hobbies, what activities go on in their families and anything that can help me direct them to an organization where they can volunteer. If you have any other way you motivate your students, please send them my way.  I can use all the help I can get.
