The Thillen Education Foundation and the Shaifer Family Charitable Trust have announced a new partnership aimed at expanding educational access and opportunities for high school students in Lake Country and beyond.
“This collaboration is essential to sustaining and scaling the Thillen Education Foundation’s impact,” Jerry Shaifer said. “By working together, we can broaden their reach and support innovative efforts that lead students to greater academic success.”
The Thillen Education Foundation is a local nonprofit dedicated to improving school performance, so students graduate and become productive community minded citizens. In partnership with the Greene College & Career Academy, the Foundation provides students with personalized career coaching, structured life planning, and financial incentives to support their post-secondary goals. This holistic model has yielded remarkable outcomes, including a 100% graduation rate among participants and a 128% increase in college attendance since the program’s inception.
Earlier this spring, Beth Shaifer visited Greene County High School to meet with students and educators. “We believe in supporting what works—and the Thillen Education Foundation works,” she said. “Their unwavering commitment to equity and excellence aligns with our values. Together, we’ll expand what’s possible for students who need it most.”
The partnership officially launched in April 2025 and will roll out in phases over the next four years. Funding from the Shaifer Family Charitable Trust will support expanded scholarships, program development, and long-term sustainability efforts.
